Cassette View: Your Music as a Real Tape

The deck view is the cozy default. Cassette view is for when you'd rather look at the tape itself.

By default the main screen shows the deck: a window with the cassette inside, a progress bar, level meters and transport buttons. Cassette view replaces the window with the whole tape, facing you.

What's on the label

The label looks handwritten and carries the title, the artist, the side and the tape length, for example side A and C-60. Below it the reels turn as the music plays, and the progress bar, meters and buttons stay where you expect them.

Turning it on

Go to the REAR tab and switch cassette view on. It's saved, so the app comes back the way you left it. Switch it off again whenever you like.

Who it's for

If you listen with the phone propped on a desk, the cassette is a nicer thing to look at than a window. If you're mostly pocketing the phone, it won't matter much. We kept both because they're different moods, not because one is better.

Pair it with blackout mode and the screen fades out after a few seconds, leaving only the tape in landscape.

There's also a short feature page with screenshots.
